Sedona’s Wilderness: A Nature Lover’s Paradise
Residents love the moderate climate that makes the great outdoors accessible all year long. Beautiful blue skies enhance the gorgeous colors of Sedona’s Red Rocks that glisten during each sunrise and sunset. At an approximate elevation of 4,500 feet, the scene is set for people of all ages and fitness levels to adventure into the crevasses of the infamous Sedona Red Rocks. Hundreds of trails throughout Sedona lead the public around town to vortexes, ancient Indian Ruins, deserted caves, and other spectacular sightseeing locations. Numerous trails also are designated for hiking, mountain biking, and tours led by 4-wheel drive. If those seem a little too rugged, there are also simple trails for “strollers”, the handicap and people with pets.
Being in Sedona, you will notice the gorgeous views from virtually everywhere in town. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime view, please take one of Sedona’s hiking trails to the top of any Red Rock Formation and you will not believe your eyes. Wildlife
Built on some of the most unique soil in the southwest, the City of Sedona is surrounded by forest service and animal habitats. At any given moment residents can look out their windows and see a variety of wildlife. Some of the local species include families of rabbits, quail and javelina. In addition, an occasional coyote, bobcat or deer may roam throughout parts of the town which they share with the human populace. An Artist’s Community
In addition to Sedona’s Majestic Countryside and the numerous outdoor activities, the town is known as an artist’s community. Sedona has been a Fine Art Destination since the early 50's with the likes of Max Ernst and many other talented artists. Out of the approximate 400 artists that call Sedona their home, Ken Rowe is an exquisite example of a Sedona Artist. Ken has been sculpting wildlife for 23+ years and has won numerous awards for his bronze sculptures. The Rowe Fine Art Gallery and Kuivato Glass Gallery are among many galleries and shops located in Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village. Sedona also hosts the well known Lanning Fine Art Gallery and Native American Art at The Turquoise Tortoise in Hozho. Sedona has over 45 art galleries that keep the culture of Sedona vivid in diverse forms of art.

Sedona Jazz on the Rocks celebrated its 30th anniversary on October 7 & 8, 2011. The Sedona Golf Resort hosted the festival on the driving range where the sun sat behind the crowd and illuminated the panoramic red rocks. A multitude of local and popular performers played Latin and reggae in addition to jazz. This two day event is a definite “Sedona Must-Do”!
Other well known festivals throughout the year include several celebrations of Mexican and Native American Culture. Also held in Sedona:

Did you know numerous Sedona restaurants carry local wines harvested from Verde Valley soil and that are bottled at local wineries? Taste of Sedona is an enjoyable festival where local businesses gather together and offer “tastes” of their best cuisine. People wander from booth to booth trying locally grown foods and beverages. This is a necessity for any “foodie” in Sedona.
Many tourists plan their vacations to Sedona around the festivals and exhibits. The question then becomes which event should we attend? One of the advantages of living in Sedona is that you don’t have to choose one event over another; they are all at your fingertips.
